STA Honors Senators Jim Carlson, Greg Clausen

Burnsville, MN – The Suburban Transit Association (STA) recently recognized Senators Jim Carlson (D-Eagan) and Sen. Greg Clausen (D-Rosemount/Apple Valley) for their efforts on behalf of transit.
Sen. Carlson was honored for being the chief author of SF 1487 that funded a demonstration suburb-to-suburb transit service between Shakopee and Maple Grove via highways 494 and 169, also serving SouthWest Station/Golden Triangle in Eden Prairie and Station 73 in Plymouth. The bill appropriated $2,000,000 to the suburban providers for the demonstration project. Senator Carlson received a Champion of Suburban Transit Award in recognition of his efforts. The service on Route 494 will begin Jan. 19, 2016.

Sen. Clausen was also recognized as a Champion of Transit for his being chief author of SF 1486 which authorized the Suburban Transit Association to name an elected official to the Transportation Advisory Board (TAB).
The Awards Reception took place at Porter Creek in Burnsville.
