Suburban Providers Offer Rides to Minnesota State Fair

Maple Grove Transit, Minnesota Valley Transit Authority and  SouthWest Transit will offer rides to and from the State Fair from Thursday, Aug. 25 through Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5.

Maple Grove Transit has service on the two weekends of the Fair and on Labor Day (Aug. 27-28, Sept. 3-5).  Buses will travel to the Fair every 30 minutes from the Maple Grove Transit Station at I-94 & Hemlock Lane from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Buses leave the Fairgrounds every 30 minutes from 12 noon to 12 midnight.

Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA) offers weekday service from Burnsville High School (600 E. Highway 13) and Burnsville Transit Station (100 E. Highway 13) hourly from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Buses leave the Fairgrounds every hour from 12 noon to 12 midnight.

On the weekends and Labor Day, buses will travel to the Fair every 30 minutes from both the Burnsville and Eagan Transit Stations from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.  Buses leave the Fairgrounds every 30 minutes from 12 noon to 12 midnight.

On weekdays SouthWest Transit will provide rides to the Fair from Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie. On weekends and Labor Day, service will be from SouthWest Station in Eden Prairie and SouthWest Village in Chanhassen. Details are available at www.swtransit.org or (952) 949-2BUS (2287).

The round-trip ride costs $5 (in cash – no stored value cards, metro passes or Go-To cards can be used to pay the State Fair bus fare) and is paid when riders initially board the bus (no fare paid when leaving the Fairgrounds).  More than 100,000 rides are provided to the Great Minnesota Get-Together by these Suburban Transit Providers.
